Songanizer Version 2.0
What's New
Version 2.0 of Songanizer is a complete rewrite of the original
version 1.x program. Since the time I had originally released
the program, I have had numerous requests for changes and
enhancements. Some I had added into version 2.0, along with
changes that I felt I should add.
The following list will describe the more obvious changes to
Songanizer. By no means is this a complete list, but these are
the ones that you will notice in every day use. If you have not
used Songanizer before, this list will give you a brief history
of the program as well as what to expect with this version.
1. Songanizer now supports context-sensitive help. By pressing
the <F1> key at various times in the program, Songanizer will
display an overview of what you are looking at, and what
options you can perform.
2. The report options have been improved. Larger reports can now
be displayed on screen without memory errors. Songanizer does
this by loading and displaying sections of a total report.
Printed reports have been improved with a Printer Setup menu
option to enable laser printers to take advantage of landscape
mode to print various detailed reports.
3. Search times have been greatly reduced!! For example, on a
386/40 using a Song file containing 3300 records, searching
for a song beginning with "Z" with version 1.x took 25
seconds. With Songanizer 2.0, search times were under 1
second!!
4. A conversion utility will convert your old data files to
version 2.0 format (Registered users only).
5. You can alter the way Songanizer looks by toggling the screen
size between 25 and 50 line mode, and by changing the colors
of the background, menu items, and all entry screens. Changes
can be saved to a file, and Songanizer will configure itself
at startup to use these settings.
6. Songanizer now has a DOS shell!!
7. Album and Song searches can now go forwards and backwards.
8. Songanizer contains a new "Find Album" screen, to locate
albums quicker.
9. Menu items are no longer shaded out. Instead, clicking on
these items will bring the selected entry screen forward,
placing it on top of all other open screens.
10. When you update the album name or artist name in the
"Album Edit" screen, all songs linked to that album are
automatically updated as well.
